Disney (1929 - 1939) Silly Symphonies - Original Vintage Production Art
Silly Symphonies is a celebrated series of 75 animated short films produced by Walt Disney between 1929 and 1939. Unlike the studio’s character-driven cartoons, the series was conceived primarily as a creative testing ground—focusing on musical storytelling while allowing Disney artists to experiment with movement, color, character animation, special effects, and synchronized sound. These shorts played a vital role in shaping the techniques that would later define Disney animation.
With only a few notable exceptions, such as Three Little Pigs and The Tortoise and the Hare, most characters introduced in the Silly Symphonies were created exclusively for their individual films and were not reused, giving each short a unique and self-contained identity.
Of particular historical importance, several major Disney characters made their first appearances within the Silly Symphonies series. Donald Duck debuted in The Wise Little Hen (1934), while Pluto appeared independently of Mickey Mouse in Just Dogs (1932). Both characters proved so popular that they were soon developed outside the series and launched into their own standalone cartoons, further expanding the Disney universe.
All of these pieces are original vintage production cels from the 1929 - 1939 Disney Shorts, "Silly Symphonies". There are no reproductions, limited editions, or sericels.
