Disney (1950) Cinderella - Original Vintage Production Art
Cinderella (1950) is based on the classic fairy tale by Charles Perrault and premiered on February 15, 1950. Since its debut, the film has remained one of Disney’s most beloved and enduring animated classics. Upon release, Cinderella received three Academy Award nominations, including Best Sound, Best Original Music Score, and Best Original Song for “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo.”
The story holds a particularly meaningful place in Walt Disney’s creative history. An early version of Cinderella was originally explored in the 1922 Laugh-O-Gram shorts, long before the studio’s feature-length era. Nearly three decades later, Disney finally realized the project as a full-length animated feature. The film introduced Disney’s first “princess protagonist” since Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) and helped usher in what is now known as the Disney “Princess era,” defined by its central female heroes.
