Disney (1983) Mickey's Christmas Carol - Original Production Art
Mickey’s Christmas Carol (1983) is a short animated film produced by Walt Disney as an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ 1843 novella A Christmas Carol. In this retelling, Mickey Mouse stars as Bob Cratchit, while Scrooge McDuck takes on the role of Ebenezer Scrooge, blending classic literature with Disney’s most beloved characters.
The film holds special significance in Disney history, marking Mickey Mouse’s first major animated appearance in over 30 years following The Simple Things (1953). It also features the final performance of Clarence Nash, the original voice of Donald Duck, who passed away in 1985 and was the last surviving original Disney voice actor at the time of the film’s release.
Mickey’s Christmas Carol received an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Short Film in 1984, becoming the first Mickey Mouse short to earn such recognition since Mickey and the Seal (1948).
